Rainforest Ant
Neoponera inversa

Rainforest Ants inhabit warm, humid tropical forests, nesting in soil, leaf litter, and decaying wood. An individual forages on the ground for small arthropods, nectar, and other available food. It uses strong mandibles to seize prey and a sting to deliver venom when threatened or attacking. Despite its small size, this ant is an active predator with a notably painful defensive sting.
