Common issid planthopper
Issus coleoptratus

The adult common issid planthopper occurs on shrubs, trees, and herbaceous vegetation in warm, sheltered habitats. It feeds on plant sap with piercing-sucking mouthparts and often rests motionless against bark or foliage. Adults make short flights and powerful hops when disturbed. Its compact, brownish body and rooflike wings give it the appearance of a small seed or fleck of bark.
