Common Bagworm Caterpillar
Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis (larva)
This caterpillar lives on conifers and many deciduous trees in woodland edges, gardens, and orchards. It eats needles and leaves while carrying a silk case covered with bits of its host plant. The case provides excellent camouflage and is enlarged as the larva grows.
