Asian Hornet
Vespa velutina
Adult Asian hornets inhabit wooded areas, orchards, and towns, building large paper nests in trees or sheltered structures. They hunt flying insects, especially bees, while also taking fruit and sugary liquids. Females can deliver a painful venomous sting and will defend the nest vigorously when disturbed.
