African Buffalo
Syncerus caffer

African buffalo inhabit savannas, woodland edges, and wetlands across sub-Saharan Africa, staying close to reliable water during dry periods. Adults graze mainly on grasses, though they also browse herbs and shrubs when necessary. They are formidable animals that defend themselves with heavy bodies and fused, curved horns. A mature bull can weigh several hundred kilograms and is capable of driving off large predators.
