Abyssinian Ground Hornbill
Bucorvus abyssinicus

Abyssinian ground hornbills inhabit open savannas, dry woodland, and thorn scrub across parts of East Africa. They spend most of the day striding over the ground while hunting insects, reptiles, frogs, small mammals, and other prey with their heavy bills. Pairs or small family groups give deep booming calls and may defend territories vigorously. Despite their imposing size, they can fly, although they generally prefer to travel on foot.
