African Fish Eagle
Icthyophaga vocifer
The adult African fish eagle lives around large lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and coastal lagoons across much of sub-Saharan Africa. It typically hunts from a prominent perch, plunging down to seize fish in its powerful talons, though it also takes waterbirds, carrion, and other small prey. Pairs are strongly territorial around water and are famous for their far-carrying, ringing calls.
