Ruddy Shelduck
Tadorna ferruginea

Ruddy Shelducks inhabit lakes, rivers, marshes, and open wetlands, often resting on exposed banks or islands. They graze on plant matter and seeds but also take aquatic invertebrates, insects, and small animals. Adults are strong, direct fliers and can be notably territorial around nesting sites. They often nest in sheltered cavities, including old mammal burrows and rock crevices.
