Alpine Swift
Tachymarptis melba

The adult Alpine Swift breeds on cliffs, gorges, and tall buildings across mountains and warm regions, then migrates long distances between Europe, Africa, and Asia. It feeds almost exclusively in flight, sweeping up small airborne insects and spiders with a wide bill. Adults are powerful fliers that glide, wheel, and dive at high speed, often spending the day far above the ground. A remarkable fact is that Alpine Swifts can remain airborne for months at a time, even resting while flying.
