Sea Mullet
Mugil cephalus

Adult sea mullets inhabit coastal seas, estuaries, lagoons, and lower reaches of rivers, often moving through shallow water over muddy or sandy bottoms. They feed mainly by grazing algae, detritus, and tiny organisms from sediment and submerged surfaces. Adults can travel between marine and brackish habitats and are strong, quick swimmers. A notable feature is their muscular, gizzard-like stomach, which helps process the sediment-rich material they consume.
