Eastern Brown Snake
Pseudonaja textilis

The Eastern Brown Snake inhabits grasslands, open woodland, farmland, and the edges of towns across eastern and central Australia. It is an alert, fast-moving daytime hunter that feeds mainly on rodents, but also takes frogs, reptiles, and birds. When threatened it raises the front of its body, forms an S-shaped striking posture, and may strike repeatedly. It is among Australia’s most medically significant snakes, with highly potent venom, though it usually avoids confrontation when given space.
