Gouldian Finch
Erythrura gouldiae

Adult Gouldian Finches inhabit tropical savanna, open woodland, and grasslands of northern Australia, usually close to water and hollow-bearing trees. They forage mainly on grass seeds, taking insects as an important seasonal food, especially while raising young. Small flocks move rapidly between feeding and drinking sites, and adults nest in tree hollows. Their exceptionally vivid plumage may include black, red, or yellow head colouration.
