Bighorn Sheep
Ovis canadensis

Desert bighorn sheep inhabit steep, rocky mountains and desert slopes of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Adults travel in small sex-segregated groups for much of the year, coming together during the breeding season. They browse grasses, forbs, cacti, and shrubs, often ranging far from permanent water. Their large, curled horns are used in dramatic head-to-head clashes between competing rams.
