Northern Bald Ibis
Geronticus eremita

Northern Bald Ibises inhabit dry open country, rocky cliffs, and cultivated landscapes near feeding grounds. Adults walk through short vegetation and loose soil, probing with their long curved bills for insects, spiders, small reptiles, and other invertebrates. They nest on cliff ledges and are notable for their bare red head and neck, along with a long crest of dark iridescent feathers. Once widespread around the Mediterranean, the species is now critically endangered in the wild.
