Chacma Baboon
Papio ursinus

The chacma baboon lives across southern Africa in savannas, woodland, rocky hills, and even around coastal cliffs. It is an adaptable omnivore, feeding on fruits, roots, seeds, insects, small vertebrates, and scavenged food. Individuals are bold, intelligent, and often rely on strong jaws, canine teeth, and aggressive displays during conflicts. Males are especially large, and the species is known for its complex social behavior and remarkable problem-solving ability.
