Rosy-faced Lovebird

Agapornis roseicollis

Rosy-faced Lovebird

An adult small parrot of arid southwestern Africa, especially Namibia and nearby regions, where it uses savanna, scrub, rocky areas, and human-provided water sources. It flies quickly between feeding sites and perches, eating grass seeds, grains, fruits, buds, and other plant material. Pairs maintain close bonds through preening, calls, and shared roosting, and adults may nest in cavities or in structures built by other birds. A notable trait is the species’ habit of carrying nesting material tucked into the rump feathers, especially by females preparing a nest.
