Brolga
Antigone rubicunda
Adult brolgas inhabit marshes, floodplains, cultivated fields, and open grasslands across northern and eastern Australia. They forage by walking and probing for plant matter, insects, crustaceans, and small animals. Famous for elaborate leaping dances with wing-spreading and bowing displays, they are among Australia's tallest flying birds.
