Flatback Millipede
Orthomorpha coarctata

The flatback millipede inhabits moist leaf litter, garden debris, and soil, especially in warm tropical and subtropical regions. It is a detritivore, processing dead plant matter and helping return nutrients to the ground. Adults are most active in humid conditions and shelter beneath logs or stones during dry periods. Its flattened body carries chemical-defense glands that produce an unpleasant secretion when threatened.
