Ruddy Ground Dove
Columbina talpacoti
The Ruddy Ground Dove inhabits open grassland, farmland edges, scrub, and urban gardens across much of tropical South America. It spends much of its time walking on the ground to pick up grass seeds and small grains, taking flight quickly when alarmed. Males are notably brighter rufous than females and perform display flights and bowing courtship displays.
