Turkey Vulture Chick
Cathartes aura (chick)
Turkey Vulture chicks remain in secluded nest sites such as caves, hollow logs, dense thickets, or sheltered rock ledges. Covered in pale down, they stay still and hidden while their parents bring them regurgitated carrion. Although unable to fly at this stage, a threatened chick may hiss and vomit defensive stomach contents to deter predators.
