Emu Chick
Dromaius novaehollandiae (chick)

Emu chicks live in open woodland, scrub, grassland, and farmland across Australia, staying close to the adult male that guards them. Their striped down provides camouflage as they forage for seeds, tender shoots, insects, and other small invertebrates. They are alert and quick on their feet, crouching in cover or running after their guardian when danger approaches. A male emu incubates the eggs and protects the chicks for many months after they hatch.
