Wood Turtle Juvenile
Glyptemys insculpta (juvenile)

Wood Turtle juveniles use wooded streambanks, marshy meadows, and damp forest floors, moving between shallow water and land as they grow. They eat insects, worms, slugs, berries, mushrooms, and other readily available foods. Juveniles are more vulnerable to predators than adults, so they often freeze or pull into their shell when disturbed.
