Military Macaw
Ara militaris

The adult Military Macaw lives in tropical and subtropical forests, wooded canyons, and foothill habitats from Mexico into South America. It flies strongly between feeding and roosting sites, using a hooked beak to crack hard nuts and seeds while also eating fruit and other plant matter. Pairs nest in tree cavities or cliff holes and defend their space with bites, wing blows, and loud calls. Its green plumage blends well into foliage, while the red forehead and blue flight feathers stand out in flight.
