Striped Slug
Meghimatium bilineatum

The adult striped slug lives in humid forests and wooded gardens of eastern North America, usually moving at night or after rain. It grazes on fungi, lichens, algae, and decaying vegetation, helping break down organic matter. When threatened, it contracts its body and produces sticky, distasteful mucus to make handling difficult. Its broad mantle and two dark lengthwise stripes make it distinctive among native land slugs.
