Hooded Vulture Hatchling
Necrosyrtes monachus (hatchling)
A newly hatched hooded vulture chick remains in a tree nest in savanna or open woodland, relying completely on its parents for warmth and food. Adults bring back small pieces of carrion and other scavenged food for the chick to eat. The hatchling is covered in pale down and has not yet developed the flight feathers needed to leave the nest.
