Common Brushtail Possum Joey
Trichosurus vulpecula (joey)

This young marsupial remains in its mother’s pouch for several months before riding on her back and exploring nearby branches. It is found with its mother in forests, woodlands, parks, and suburban gardens, sheltering in tree hollows or other protected dens by day. As it begins weaning, it samples leaves, flowers, fruit, and soft plant foods; its notable early adaptation is its strong grip, which helps it cling securely to its mother while she climbs.
