Snowy Plover Chick
Charadrius nivosus (chick)

Western Snowy Plover chicks hatch in open sandy beaches, salt flats, and sparsely vegetated shorelines. They leave the nest soon after hatching and forage for tiny insects and other invertebrates while following their parents. Downy mottled plumage helps a chick freeze against the sand and become remarkably difficult to spot.
