Dwarf Indian Puffer
Carinotetraodon travancoricus

The dwarf Indian puffer inhabits warm, plant-filled freshwater streams, pools, and flooded margins in southwestern India. It is an active hunter that eats small crustaceans, insect larvae, worms, and snails, using its strong beaklike jaws to bite prey. Adults often patrol vegetation and ambush tiny animals at close range. When alarmed, it can inflate by swallowing water, making itself harder for a predator to swallow.
