Amazon Lava Lizard
Tropidurus torquatus
Adult Amazon lava lizards occupy sunny rocks, tree trunks, walls, and open forest edges. They are alert ambush hunters that feed mainly on insects and other small invertebrates, supplementing their diet with some plant material. Males perform conspicuous head-bobs and push-up displays to defend territories and signal rivals.
