Chinese trumpetfish
Aulostomus chinensis
Adult Chinese trumpetfish live around coral reefs and rocky coastal slopes across the Indo-Pacific. They are ambush predators that approach small fish and crustaceans slowly before sucking them into their long tubular mouths. An adult can change its coloration and may align its body beside larger fish or vertical corals to conceal its approach.
