Bubble Coral
Plerogyra sinuosa

Bubble coral inhabits sheltered tropical reefs, especially shaded slopes and lagoons in the Indo-Pacific. By day, its large water-filled vesicles swell over the colony, while at night it extends feeding tentacles to catch plankton and small drifting animals. It also receives energy from symbiotic algae living in its tissues. Long sweeper tentacles armed with stinging cells help it defend space from nearby corals.
