Brown Ectatomma Ant
Ectatomma brunneum
Brown Ectatomma ants are ground-dwelling ponerine ants found in warm forests, savannas, and disturbed tropical habitats. Individual workers forage over soil and leaf litter, taking small arthropods as prey while also visiting sugary nectar sources. When threatened or subduing prey, the ant can use a painful venomous sting delivered from its abdomen.
