Butterfly Loach
Beaufortia kweichowensis

Butterfly Loaches live on smooth rocks in cool, oxygen-rich fast-flowing streams. Their broad fins and flattened bodies help them cling to surfaces while they graze algae and biofilm with a specialized mouth. The species is named for its spread fins, which give it a butterfly-like outline when viewed from above.
