Common Periwinkle
Littorina littorea

Adult common periwinkles inhabit intertidal rocks, pilings, and seaweed-covered shorelines. They graze algae from hard surfaces with their radula, often becoming active when the shore is wet. Its heavy coiled shell and tight-closing operculum help it survive drying conditions and wave exposure.
