Tricolored Heron
Egretta tricolor

Adult tricolored herons hunt in coastal marshes, mangroves, estuaries, and freshwater wetlands. They stalk through shallow water before stabbing at fish, crustaceans, frogs, and insects with their long pointed bills. Adults are recognized by their slate-blue and reddish breeding plumage and may use partially spread wings to reduce glare while hunting.
