Big Brown Bat
Eptesicus fuscus

The adult Big Brown Bat is a widespread North American bat that roosts in buildings, hollow trees, rock crevices, and caves. It hunts at dusk and at night, using echolocation to track and catch flying insects, especially beetles and moths. Adults are strong fliers for their size and may return to favored feeding routes night after night. A notable fact is that this species can survive cold winters by hibernating and lowering its body temperature to conserve energy.
