Bullet Ant
Paraponera clavata
Adult bullet ants inhabit humid Neotropical forests, nesting at the bases of trees and foraging on the ground and in low vegetation. They collect nectar and small arthropods, using powerful mandibles to handle food and defend themselves. Its exceptionally painful venomous sting is widely regarded as one of the most intense of any insect.
