Devil's Flower Mantis
Idolomantis diabolica

The adult devil's flower mantis inhabits warm, dry bushland and scrub in parts of eastern Africa. It waits among vegetation for flying insects and other arthropods, seizing prey with powerful spined forelegs. When threatened, it can raise its body and spread its wings in a startling defensive display. Its ornate green, cream, and red markings make this large mantis resemble a flower or dry leaf.
