Tenerife Lizard
Gallotia galloti
The Tenerife Lizard inhabits rocky slopes, coastal scrub, farmland edges, and open woodland across Tenerife. An active omnivore, it eats insects, snails, flowers, fruits, and other plant material, sometimes taking small animals. Adults bask conspicuously in the sun but retreat rapidly into crevices when threatened; males are often larger and more boldly coloured than females.
