Striped Shieldbug
Graphosoma lineatum

Adult striped shieldbugs are found in warm, open habitats across much of Europe and nearby regions, especially where their favorite carrot-family plants grow. They feed on plant sap and developing seeds using a needle-like rostrum. Adults can fly between host plants but usually depend on their red-and-black warning pattern and pungent chemical defenses when threatened. The species is especially recognizable for the neat lengthwise black stripes across its shield-shaped body.
