European Storm-Petrel
Hydrobates pelagicus

The adult European storm-petrel spends most of its life over the open Atlantic and Mediterranean seas, coming ashore only to breed on isolated coasts and islands. It picks small crustaceans, fish, and squid from the water's surface, often foraging at night. Rapid wingbeats and dangling feet let it appear to walk or patter across the waves. Despite its tiny size, it can travel immense distances across rough ocean waters.
