Early Thorn
Selenia dentaria
The adult Early Thorn is a nocturnal moth of broadleaved woodland, hedgerows, and gardens. It flies after dusk and rests by day with its wings held to resemble a dry, curled leaf. Adults are short-lived and devote much of their activity to finding mates and suitable egg-laying plants.
