Bruised Nassa
Phrontis vibex

Adult bruised nassa snails inhabit coastal shallows, bays, and estuaries with soft sand or mud. They spend much of the day buried, emerging quickly when chemical cues reveal carrion or other food nearby. A long proboscis and radula help them feed on decaying animal material, making them important scavengers of the seafloor.
