Giant Green Turban
Turbo marmoratus
Adults inhabit tropical reef flats and rocky coastal shallows, usually remaining close to hard surfaces. They feed mainly by scraping algae from rocks and coral rubble with a powerful radula. The heavy green-and-brown marbled shell can grow exceptionally large and is prized for producing mother-of-pearl.
