Crimson-headed Partridge
Haematortyx sanguiniceps

The crimson-headed partridge inhabits shaded lowland rainforests in northern Borneo, where it spends much of its time walking through leaf litter. It forages for seeds, fruits, and invertebrates, using its bill to pick food from the ground. Although primarily terrestrial, it can make short, rapid flights when startled, and the male is noted for its richly colored crimson head.
