Furrowed Hoverfly
Chrysotoxum bicincta

The adult is a black-and-yellow hoverfly often seen visiting open flowers in sunny meadows, hedgerows, and woodland edges. It feeds on nectar and pollen, hovering and darting between blooms with quick, controlled flight. Its wasp-like pattern helps deter predators even though it cannot sting. The broad yellow bands across the abdomen give this species a distinctive two-banded look.
