Crestless Fireback
Lophura erythrophthalma
The crestless fireback is a ground-dwelling pheasant of humid lowland rainforest in Borneo. It forages through leaf litter for seeds, fruits, insects, and other small invertebrates. Although it usually runs through dense cover when threatened, it can burst into short flights with strong wingbeats; the male is notable for its glossy dark plumage and bright red facial skin.
