Guam Rail
Hypotaenidia owstoni
The Guam rail is a flightless forest bird that runs through grasslands, scrub, and woodland undergrowth. It forages on the ground for insects, snails, seeds, and fallen fruit, using its bill to probe through leaf litter. Once common on Guam, it disappeared from the wild after brown tree snakes were introduced, though captive breeding and reintroduction efforts continue.
