Western Crowned-Pigeon
Goura cristata

The Western Crowned-Pigeon inhabits lowland rainforest and swamp forest in northwestern New Guinea, spending much of its time walking on the forest floor. It searches through leaf litter for fallen fruit, seeds, snails, and small invertebrates, taking flight mainly when disturbed. Its elaborate fan-shaped crest makes it one of the largest and most striking pigeons in the world.
