Carpet Python
Morelia spilota
Adult carpet pythons inhabit forests, woodland, rocky outcrops, and human-altered areas throughout their range. They are ambush predators that take mammals, birds, reptiles, and sometimes bats before subduing prey with constriction. Large adults are skilled climbers and may shelter in roof spaces, hollow logs, or tree cavities.
